US President Donald Trump has claimed that the US military carried out a limited strike on an Iranian air defence system, destroying the target within minutes.
Speaking to reporters shortly after arriving in West Palm Beach, Florida, Trump described the military action as a minor operation.
“They had a little anti-aircraft thing, and we knocked it out in about 15 minutes, maybe five minutes,” he said, according to the Associated Press (AP).
Trump did not provide further details about the target or the operation.
US officials have said that most of Iran's air defence systems were destroyed or severely damaged during Israeli strikes in June 2025 and the early stages of the current conflict. However, they believe Tehran may attempt to rebuild its air defence capabilities and other military infrastructure.
The reported strike came after Trump's Republican Party suffered major setbacks in the US midterm elections. It was the first reported US strike in Iran since the electoral setback.
Earlier, Iranian state media reported hearing two explosions in the Suza area of Qeshm Island, a strategically important location near the oil transportation route.
