Organisers have announced a 50 per cent discount on tickets for Sunday's (November 8) SAFF Championship fixtures between Sri Lanka and Bhutan, and Pakistan and the Maldives, following complaints over high ticket prices and poor attendance.

The Tk 1,000 gallery tickets will now be available for Tk 500 for both matches, confirmed Sajib Rashid, chief executive officer of organiser TSA Sports and Entertainment.

The original ticket price sparked protests among football fans near the National Stadium in Dhaka, while large sections of the gallery remained empty during the tournament's opening day, despite Bangladesh's involvement.

Rashid said around 12,000 spectators attended the Bangladesh-Bhutan match on the opening day, adding that most tickets allocated for sale had been sold.

However, no decision has yet been taken on whether ticket prices will be reduced for Bangladesh's next match on November 11. Organisers said they would announce any changes later.
