More than 12 lakh Bangladeshi expatriates have registered to vote via postal ballots in the upcoming 13th General Election and referendum.
According to Election Commission (EC) website, a total of 1,200,057 voters had registered on ‘Postal Vote BD’ app as of 5:30 PM on Thursday. Among them, 1,037,035 are male and 163,020 are female.
The registration process for overseas voters began on November 19, 2025 and will continue until January 5, 2026.
Bangladeshis living in countries including South Korea, Japan, South Africa, China, Egypt, Libya, Mauritius, Hong Kong, the USA, Australia, Brazil, Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, Algeria, Morocco, Tanzania, Ghana, Somalia, Rwanda, Argentina, Peru and Zimbabwe have been participating in the registration.
Once the registration process concludes, postal ballots will be mailed to voters’ addresses.
Registered expatriates will then mark their votes on the ballots and return them to the respective Returning Officer using the designated envelope provided by Election Commission.
