Students of seven government colleges on Saturday announced the formation of an "Ordinance Platform (Odhyadesh Mancha)" and declared a large-scale mass gathering at the Science Lab intersection in the capital on Monday, demanding the immediate promulgation of an ordinance for the proposed Dhaka Central University (DCU).

The announcement came through a message circulated by Md Naeem Howlader, a representative of the Seven College University Transformation Movement.

According to the message, the draft of the "Dhaka Central University Act 2025," prepared to implement the proposed university in collaboration with the seven colleges, was published on the website of the Secondary and Higher Education Department under the Ministry of Education on September 24, 2025.

"Immediately after the draft was published, various arguments emerged from different sides. As a result, the Ministry of Education organised a consultation meeting with all stakeholders," the message said. Sources added that the ministry later updated the draft by incorporating suggestions received during those discussions.
