Chief Adviser's Special Assistant at the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Faiz Ahmed Taiyeb, has said that the IT Training and Incubation Centre in Meherpur has been established to develop the startup ecosystem, create skilled human resources, and generate technology-based employment.

He said developing skilled manpower is the most crucial requirement for sustainable development in emerging districts like Meherpur, adding that the newly established centre will play a vital role in achieving this goal.

Taiyeb made the remarks on Friday while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the IT Training and Incubation Centre, implemented by the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority under the ICT Division.

He said the centre has three core objectives: nurturing local entrepreneurs and IT-based small businesses into startups by providing necessary infrastructural support; creating quality employment opportunities by training students and youth in freelancing, e-commerce, and ICT skills; and bridging the gap between academic education and practical skills through effective collaboration between universities and industry.

He further said the centre will feature modern computer laboratories, startup spaces, incubation facilities, and a 150-seat auditorium to be used for entrepreneurship development, business training, and skill enhancement. All training programmes offered at the centre will be verified by the National Skill Development Authority (NSDA), ensuring national and international recognition for trainees.

Referring to Startup Bangladesh Limited and the IDEA project, Taiyeb said local entrepreneurs will be able to apply directly from the centre for government startup funds, training, and investment facilities, significantly reducing Dhaka-centric disparities.

Speaking as a special guest, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser (Consensus) Monir Haider said such training centres are highly effective in developing skilled manpower in the IT sector and will open new avenues of opportunity for the youth of Meherpur. He urged local residents to make optimal use of the facility.

At the beginning of the event, Taiyeb inaugurated a training workshop titled "Specialized ICT Training for College Teachers" and planted a sapling on the centre premises. Monir Haider also planted a sapling at the venue.
