Fugitive rape accused among 2 held in city

Police arrested an alleged mugger and a fugitive rape accused in separate drives in the capital’s Mirpur and Kakrail areas on Wednesday night and Thursday.

In Mirpur, police arrested an alleged mugger from the Mirpur-10 area around 10 am on Thursday, said Niaz Mehedi, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

The arrestee was identified as Ismail Hossain, 26. He is wanted in three criminal cases. Meanwhile, in a separate drive, the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested a fugitive accused in a rape case from near Hotel Rajmoni in the Kakrail area around 8:10 pm on Wednesday.

The arrestee was identified as Din Islam Mintu, 44. He is wanted in a rape case filed with Bangshal Police Station.
He had been on the run for the past five years.-UNB
