National Citizen Party (NCP) Northern Region Chief Organizer Sarjis Alam on Friday described the 2026 national parliamentary elections as a critical juncture that will decide whether Bangladesh progresses with the "spirit of revolution" or regresses.

Speaking at a rally at the Panchagarh sugar mill ground, Sarjis, a candidate of the Jamaat-e-Islami led 10-party alliance, said the political changes initiated in 2024 had laid the foundation for a new Bangladesh, with the 2026 polls being the most decisive step in the process.

Framing the election as a struggle against systemic abuse, he urged voters to resist extortion, harassment, and opportunistic politicians. He criticised those who publicly advocate education reforms while secretly undermining schools, and condemned political inequality, partisanship in administration, and corruption.
