A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed Md Rahim, an alleged shooter in the killing of Swechchhasebak Dal leader Azizur Rahman Musabbir, on a five-day remand.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arifur Rahman passed the order following a seven-day remand petition filed by police.
According to the petition, another alleged shooter, Jinnat, gave a confessional statement in court in which he disclosed that Rahim shot the victim. A review of video footage further corroborates the incident.
Musabbir, 45, former general secretary of the Swechchhasebak Dal’s Dhaka North unit, was shot dead by miscreants on 7 January in an alley behind Star Kabab at Tejturi Bazar under Tejgaon Police Station, according to the case documents.
Following the incident, Musabbir’s wife, Suraiya Begum, filed a murder case with the police station against four to five unidentified individuals.
