As Bangladesh prepares for the 13th national parliamentary elections, constituencies Dhaka-18 and Bogura-2 have attracted significant political attention. Mahmudur Rahman Manna, president of Nagorik Oikko, is contesting both seats and has expressed optimism about his prospects. In a recent interview, he said, "People are responding positively to our efforts and plans. I firmly believe our party will achieve strong results in these constituencies."

Manna's confidence reflects his extensive political experience, understanding of local issues, and coordinated campaign strategies. In Dhaka-18, a constituency grappling with rapid urbanization and socio-economic challenges, he believes his plans can bring new hope to residents. In Bogura-2, Manna is focusing on agricultural development, education improvement, and local infrastructure.

However, local reactions are more cautious. A Dhaka-18 voter said, "It's not just about promises. We need solutions to real problems, and so far, we haven't seen sufficient action." Residents in Bogura-2 added, "We remain hopeful, but we are waiting to see if his plans are practical. Voters will assess promises against reality before making their decision."

Other candidates are campaigning actively in both constituencies. In Bogura-2, BNP candidate Mir Shah Alam has held public meetings and consultations, promising initiatives in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and youth employment. Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Abul Azad Mohammad Shahaduzzaman has emphasized transparent, people-focused development. In Dhaka-18, BNP candidate S.M. Jahangir is engaging voters through public rallies and direct dialogues, pledging improvements in road safety, education, healthcare, and utilities. National Citizens Party leader Ariful Islam Adib is also campaigning actively, focusing on overall local development.

Political analysts say that at this stage, direct engagement, public outreach, and tangible development promises are crucial for building voter trust. Confidence alone is not enough; visible progress and action matter most. All candidates have promised to address core public concerns such as improving education and healthcare, expanding infrastructure, providing clean water and electricity, and creating employment opportunities for youth.

Nagorik Oikko has released a detailed manifesto emphasizing citizen rights, social justice, anti-corruption measures, and structural reforms. Key priorities include education, healthcare, housing, and social safety programs for vulnerable groups.

Economic strategies focus on export-led industrial growth, agricultural and fisheries development, and reducing urban congestion, particularly in Dhaka. The party stresses participatory governance, empowering local representatives, and strengthening accountability.
