Over 4.22 lakh postal ballots arrive

More than 422,000 postal ballots cast by expatriate voters have reached Bangladesh ahead of 13th National Parliamentary Election and Referendum.

Salim Ahmad Khan, Team Leader of OCV-SDI project on expatriate voter registration, confirmed the development to BSS on Saturday morning. 

He said a total of 766,862 ballots had been dispatched to expatriates through “Postal Vote BD” app as of 10:15 AM.

Of these, 527,033 expatriate voters have received their ballots, while 494,185 have already cast their votes. 

So far, 468,091 completed ballots have been submitted to post offices abroad, and returning officers in Bangladesh have received 225,168 of them.

Meanwhile, Election Commission (EC) has also started sending postal ballots to voters residing inside the country under the ICPV system. Ballots have been dispatched to 694,146 registered domestic voters.

According to EC data, 381,070 voters within Bangladesh had received their ballots by 10:15 AM on Saturday. Among them, 321,695 have voted, and 276,272 ballots have been submitted to post offices or mailboxes. Returning officers have so far received 83,942 ballots.

Salim Ahmad Khan said a total of 1,533,684 voters, both at home and abroad, have registered through the app to participate in the 13th National Parliamentary Election and Referendum.
