Detained Jamaat Ameer hospitalised

Thakurgaon district Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Belal Uddin has been hospitalised after falling ill during interrogation following his detention with a large amount of cash at Saidpur Airport in Nilphamari district.

He was detained with around Tk 50 lakh in cash at the airport. Later, while being questioned, he reportedly felt ill and was taken to Saidpur Hospital by ambulance at around 1:00 PM on Wednesday (February 11).

According to police, Belal Uddin had arrived at Saidpur Airport by air around 11:00 AM earlier in the day.

Nilphamari Superintendent of Police Sheikh Zahidul Islam confirmed the incident, saying, “He was detained with approximately Tk 50 lakh in cash. During interrogation, he fell ill, after which he was sent to the hospital.”

The police superintendent added that further details regarding the incident would be disclosed later.
