Police recovered the bodies of a man and his wife from a residential hotel near the Foy’s Lake Zoo entrance in Chattogram on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Ripon and his wife, Sonia.

According to police sources, the couple had checked into the 'Royal Park' hotel on Sunday afternoon. Hotel staff alerted the authorities on Monday morning after receiving no response from their room.

A team from Akbar Shah Police Station subsequently arrived at the scene and recovered the bodies around 11:00 AM.

Akbar Shah Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Kamruzzaman confirmed the incident, stating that initial findings suggest the couple may have committed suicide following a marital dispute.

The bodies have been sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for autopsy. The exact cause of death will be determined once the post-mortem report is available, the OC added.
