Election Commissioner Brig Gen (retd) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah said on Wednesday that the results of most constituencies will be announced on Friday (February 13) morning.
''The registration for postal votes was conducted digitally, while the rest of the process was manual. Each postal vote will be counted according to its respective parliamentary constituency. Only those postal votes that are received by 4PM on the day of voting will be included in the count.''
EC Sanaullah said, ''Dual citizens will be allowed to vote. There is no constitutional restriction in this regard. However, individuals holding dual citizenship, will not be eligible to run as candidates. A candidate must renounce the citizenship of any other country.''
He added, voting will be held from 7:30AM to 4:30PM through ballot papers in transparent ballot boxes. ''If any voters are waiting within the area of polling centres after 4:30PM, their voting will be completed as per the law.''
According to the EC, out of the total
candidates, 1,755 are contesting from political parties and 273 are
independent ones. Among the female candidates, 63 are from parties and
20 are independent.
Among the male candidates, 1,692 are vying in the polls from parties and 253 are independent ones.
