2 held with 250,000 pieces of yaba tablets in Ctg

Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) has arrested two people with 250,000 pieces of Yaba tablets in a raid in the outer anchorage area of Patenga police station in Chittagong city.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan gave this information on Monday afternoon.
The arrestees were identified as Muhammad Rahim, 60, son of deceased Abdur Rahim, a resident of Ukhia Kutupalong Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar district, and Md. Rashid, 55, son of deceased Abul Hossain, a resident of the same camp.
He said that based on a secret tip-off, the Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) conducted a raid in the outer anchorage area of Patenga police station in the city at 3 am on Monday.
During the raid, a suspicious boat was given a signal to stop in the area, but the boat ignored the signal and tried to flee at high speed.
The raiding party chased and arrested the boat. Later, two drug dealers were arrested along with 250,000 pieces of Yaba tablets and the boat used for smuggling.
He further said that the arrested organized drug gang was trying to collect yaba consignments from different areas of Myanmar and smuggle them to Chittagong. The Coast Guard's intelligence activities and coordination with other law enforcement agencies are continuing to identify other members of the organized drug gang and bring them under the law.
The process of taking further legal action against the seized yaba tablets, boats and arrested drug dealers is under process.
The estimated market value of the recovered yaba tablets is Tk 12 crore 50 lakh.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan said that the Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to prevent the spread of the dangerous drug.
