
The main phase of the Family Card programme is set to begin in Kishoreganj on August 16 following the completion of its pilot project.
A Family Card distribution ceremony will be held at the old stadium of Kishoreganj Municipality at 3:30pm on Sunday, according to an invitation from the Ministry of Social Welfare. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will attend the event as the chief guest.
The theme of the programme is “Family, not individuals, is the basic unit of development.”
During the ceremony, the prime minister will hand over Family Cards to 10 female heads of households. He will then digitally enrol the beneficiaries as members of the Family Card programme.
The programme will begin with the seating of invited guests, the national anthem and recitations from religious scriptures. Secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare Dr Mohammad Abu Yusuf will deliver the welcome address.
Social Welfare Minister Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain MP will preside over the event. Local MP and State Minister for Textiles and Jute Mohammad Shariful Alam will also speak.
The pilot phase of the Family Card programme was inaugurated in Dinajpur on March 10 by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
