
SREEMANGAL, MOULVIBAZAR, Feb 19: A free medical camp and medicine distribution programme was organised in Sreemangal, Moulvibazar, to mark the 191st birth anniversary of Sri Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa.
The programme was inaugurated on Wednesday morning on the Sri Sri Ramakrishna Sebashram premises in the town by the Sylhet Divisional Director of Health, Dr Md Anisur Rahman.
Presided over by the Sebashram President and renowned physician Dr Nibash Chandra Pal, the inaugural event was attended by Deputy Director of Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital, Pranay Kanti Dhar; Acting Civil Surgeon, Barnali Dash; former civil surgeon Satyakam Chakraborty; another former civil surgeon, Nishit Nandi Majumdar; and child specialist Pradip Lal Banik, along with other local dignitaries.
Later, specialist doctors provided services to patients at seven separate booths.
Gynaecology specialists Dr Nibash Chandra Pal and Dr Dipanjali Pal, child specialists Pradip Lal Banik and Bishwajit Deb, medicine specialists Dr Subrata Ray and Akash Deb, surgery specialist Pompy Boidya, and dental specialist Pushpita Khastagir provided medical care.
On the occasion, medicines worth approximately Tk 2 lakh were distributed free of charge, in collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Representative Association (FARIA), Sreemangal.
Dr Nibash Chandra Pal, President of the Sebashram, said, "This programme has been organised like every year to mark the birth anniversary of Sri Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. From morning, nearly 450 patients registered and received medical care and free medicines. Additionally, free diabetes tests were conducted in collaboration with Sun Pharmaceuticals."
Later in the afternoon, educational materials were distributed among poor and meritorious students. According to the organisers, this humanitarian service initiative will continue in the future.
