Indian visa services, which were dramatically curtailed following the July Uprising, will return to normal level soon, said Indian Assistant High Commissioner Aniruddha Das on Thursday.

Almost all types of visas excluding medical and double-entry visas remain suspended, but authorities have recently adopted resolute measures to resume tourist and other categories of visas, Aniruddha Das told reporters at an event held at the Sylhet Press Club.

Bangladesh-India ties are based on mutual respect and the people of the two neighbouring countries are main stakeholders in a stable, positive and sustainable partnership, the diplomat added.

"Our thoughts and culture are historically bound by the same thread," he noted.
