FENI, Feb 21: Feni-3 (Daganbhuiyan-Sonagazi) MP and Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo has launched a dedicated hotline and website to combat extortion, terrorism, and all forms of irregularities in the constituency. The initiative aims to ensure a safe and crime-free environment, officials said.
Minister Mintoo announced the measures on his verified Facebook page on Friday, urging residents to cooperate. "We are committed to keeping Feni-3 free from extortion, terrorism, and any illegal activities. Building a safe and beautiful society requires your support. Speak out against injustice and provide information without fear. All information you provide will remain confidential," he wrote.
As part of the zero-tolerance policy, Mintoo has unveiled a dedicated mobile number - 01730004844 - where victims or witnesses can report incidents directly. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and spread awareness within their communities.
Simultaneously, a new website, www.aamintoo.com, has been launched where people can submit complaints online. The website assures complete confidentiality for all submissions.
Minister Mintoo emphasised that combating crime and extortion is a collective effort. "We need everyone's cooperation to create a safe and harmonious society. My administration will maintain zero tolerance against extortion and terrorism," he said.
Local residents noted that during his election campaign, Mintu had pledged to eliminate extortion, crime, and drugs from the constituency as his first priority. Following his victory, he has begun implementing steps to fulfil that promise.
Abdul Awal Mintoo, a successful industrial entrepreneur and newly elected BNP vice chairman, won the Feni-3 seat in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election, marking his first term in parliament. Observers say his ministerial appointment and active involvement in development initiatives could have a positive impact on the long-neglected Feni district while also creating new political dynamics.
