Actor Zaher Alvi's wife commits suicide at Mirpur DOHS residence

The wife of television actor Zaher Alvi reportedly died by suicide at their residence in the capital's Mirpur DOHS on Saturday.

Alvi confirmed the news in a statement shared on his verified Facebook page but did not provide further details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.

In his post, the actor wrote that his wife, Ikra, took her own life at their home while he was in Nepal for a shooting project. 

He expressed shock and grief, saying he could not understand why she made such a decision without considering their child and him.

He requested well-wishers and members of the media to give him time to process the tragedy, adding that he is trying to return to Dhaka as soon as possible. 

He also urged people not to spread misinformation and asked for privacy for the sake of their child and family.

Alvi and Ikra have a son.
