A Dhaka court on Monday deferred the hearing on framing charges against actress Pori Moni and two others in a drug case filed with Banani Police Station until September 29.
Judge Robiul Alam of Dhaka Special Judge Court-10 granted the defense’s time petition after Pori Moni’s lawyer Nilanjana Rifat Suravi said the actress could not appear in court as her child had developed a fever after vaccination and it was also the child’s birthday.
The other accused are Pori Moni’s manager Ashraful Islam Dipu and her uncle Kabir Hossain Hawladar.
The Rapid Action Battalion arrested Pori Moni in August 2021 after raiding her residence and reportedly recovering alcohol and drugs. She was released after spending about a month in jail.
The CID later submitted a charge sheet against the three accused in October 2021. A court framed charges in January 2022, but Pori Moni subsequently moved the High Court seeking quashing of the case. The High Court stayed proceedings against her for three months in March 2022, after which the higher court ordered fresh proceedings.
