The Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) has announced that motorcycle ride-sharing drivers will be allowed to purchase a maximum of five liters of octane or petrol per day.
The restriction will apply only within metropolitan areas.
The decision was disclosed in a press release signed by BPC Secretary Shahina Sultana on Tuesday (March 10).
According to the statement, several conditions have been set for supplying fuel to ride-sharing motorcycles:
When collecting fuel from filling stations, ride-sharing motorcycle users must be provided with a purchase receipt specifying the type of fuel, quantity, and price.
Each time fuel is collected, the consumer must submit the original copy of the previous purchase receipt or bill.
Fuel supply will be provided only after verifying the motorcycle's registration number and the driver’s information with ride-sharing applications.
BPC said the measures are aimed at regulating fuel distribution among ride-sharing motorcycle operators in metropolitan cities.
