MP, ministerial posts will become vacant after Presidential oath: Chief Whip

BNP Secretary General and Thakurgaon-1 lawmaker Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will cease to be an MP and minister immediately after taking the oath as president, said Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni on Thursday.
The Chief Whip added, a fresh election would be held for the vacant parliamentary seat.
He made the remarks while briefing journalists at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban ahead of the presidential election.
"Fakhrul Islam will no longer be an MP or a minister after he takes the oath as president. From then on, he will be the honourable president.''
