A familiar surge of homebound passengers has gripped Kamalapur Railway Station ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, as thousands began leaving Dhaka following the last working day on Monday (March 16).
Since Monday night, large crowds have been seen at the station, a situation that continued into early Tuesday.
While visiting, nearly every departing train has been fully packed with passengers.
Despite the sharp increase of passenger, railway operations have remained smooth. Encouragingly, no delays in train departures have been reported.
The day's train services began at 6AM with the departure of the Rajshahi-bound Dhumketu Express. Other trains, including Nilnagar Express, Sundarban Express, Egaro Sindur Probhat and Teesta Express, also departed on schedule.
Passengers, though faced with heavy crowds, appeared relieved and even cheerful due to the timely departure.
Tajul Islam, a traveler waiting with his family at the station, said he arrived at an early hours in anticipation of the rush.
