A 17-year-old factory worker died from electrocution while working at a plastic factory in the capital's Chawkbazar area on Sunday evening.
The deceased was identified as Kaiyum, son of Md Khokon Miah hailing from Dattagram in Mymensingh’s Ishwarganj upazila.
He lived inside the plastic factory in Chawkbazar where he worked.According to his co-worker Abdul Kaiyum, the teenager inadvertently came into contact with a live electric line while working at the factory and fell unconscious.
Co-workers rescued him in critical condition and rushed him to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Inspector Md Habibur Rahman, in-charge of the DMCH Police Camp, confirmed the death citing attending doctors.
He stated that the body has been kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy. The incident has been reported to the relevant police station, and legal procedures are currently underway.
