
NAOGAON, Mar 18: The newly elected councillors of the BNP government are conducting anti-mosquito and cleanliness campaigns across the country.
In continuation of this, Jahidul Islam Dholu, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Naogaon-5 (Sadar) constituency, inaugurated an awareness programme on the banks of the Choto Jamuna River at the Liton Bridge area in the town on Tuesday.
On the initiative of MP Jahidul Islam Dholu, the Naogaon Municipality, local socio-cultural organisation Ekushey Parishad Naogaon, and the voluntary organisation BD Clean participated in the cleanliness drive aimed at preventing dengue by curbing mosquito breeding, clearing rubbish, removing stagnant water, and raising public awareness.
Before the inauguration of the cleanliness activities, MP Jahidul Islam said, 'Keeping the environment clean is not only the government's duty; it is the responsibility of every citizen. It is our civic duty to keep our surroundings clean. I have been elected by the people's votes, and as a public servant, I want to continue working for the people. From now on, a cleanliness campaign will be conducted in the Naogaon town every Saturday.'
Among others, speeches were given by DM Abdul Bari, President of Ekushey Parishad Naogaon, and Abu Zar Gaffar, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Naogaon General Hospital.
