BNP to implement July Charter: MP Chand

BAGHA, RAJSHAHI, Aug 18: Rajshahi-6 MP Abu Sayeed Chand has said some unscrupulous traders are selling fertiliser at inflated prices and called for stern action against them.

“People must receive proper services from every government office. Law enforcement agencies must take strict action against illegal pond excavation, sand extraction, drugs and IMO hackers,” he said.

Chand made the remarks at an exchange meeting with leaders of different political parties, heads of government offices, freedom fighters, July fighters, teachers, journalists and civil society representatives at the Upazila Parishad auditorium on Monday morning.

Speaking to Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, he said, “You do not like the Awami League (AL), and neither do we. We have also faced imprisonment, persecution and repression, and so have you. BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami leaders were executed by hanging. But you have created an uncomfortable situation by spreading unnecessary confusion over the July Charter. There is no doubt that BNP will implement the July Charter.”

He also said some people associated with the AL politics were posting on social media and dreaming of the return of Sheikh Hasina and other fugitive leaders.
“That will never happen,” he said.

Newly appointed Upazila Nirbahi Officer Taki Faisal Talukder chaired the meeting.

Later, Chand attended a cheque distribution ceremony organised by the upazila teachers' association at Rahmatullah Girls' High School. He was the chief guest at the event, where cheques were distributed to retired teachers and employees and the families of deceased teachers and employees.
