Youth dies after hitting bridge while riding on train roof in Rajbari

An unidentified youth died after hitting a railway bridge while travelling on the roof of a train in Rajbari’s Kalukhali upazila.


The incident occurred near the Kalikapur railway bridge as a local shuttle train from Poradah to Goalanda Ghat was passing through the area.


The identity of the deceased is yet to be known.


According to eyewitnesses, the youth was sitting on the roof of the train when he struck the bridge, sustaining critical injuries and collapsing on top of the carriage.


Later, after the train reached Kalukhali Railway Junction Station at around 2:38 AM, where railway police, with the help of locals, recovered the body from the roof. Train movement was reportedly delayed by about 12 minutes following the incident.


Assistant Station Master Ratan Sen said the body was noticed after the train entered the station and was subsequently brought down and kept at the station premises. Authorities were informed immediately.


Rajbari Railway Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mizanur Rahman said that a police team has been dispatched to the scene and the body has been sent to Rajbari General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.


Further legal procedures are underway, added the OC.
