Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-6) has arrested a truck driver in Jashore in connection with the killing of a filling station manager in neighbouring Narail.
The arrested was identified as Sujat Ali, a resident of Peroli village in Bagharpara upazila.
According to RAB sources, a team of RAB officials conducted a drive on Sunday and arrested Sujat in connection with the killing. The truck involved in the incident was later seized from the Benapole area.
The arrest follows the death of Nahid Sardar, 33, manager of M/s Tanvir Filling and Gas Station in Tularampur union under Narail Sadar upazila. He was killed and his colleague Jihad Molla, 27, injured when a truck hit their motorcycle near the Tularampur rail bridge around 2:00 AM.
According to investigators, the incident was preceded by an altercation at the filling station late Saturday night. Sujat had reportedly arrived to refuel his truck, but a dispute broke out after Nahid refused to supply diesel due to a shortage.
CCTV footage shows the truck driver remained at the station following the argument. Shortly after Nahid and Jihad left the pump on a motorcycle at around 2:10 AM, the truck was seen pursuing them at high speed before striking their vehicle.
Jihad Molla was initially taken to a local hospital and later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
RAB-6 Commanding Officer Major ATM Fazle Rabbi confirmed the detention and said that further legal action is underway in connection with the incident.
