Jute seed distributed at Paikgachha

PAIKGACHHA, KHULNA, Apr 3: Under the project 'Advanced Technology-Based Jute and Jute Seed Production and Expansion', free jute seeds have been distributed among registered jute farmers in Paikgachha Upazila of  Khulna District.

The distribution programme was inaugurated at 11 am on Thursday on the Upazila Parishad premises. The event was held under the project titled 'Advanced Technology-Based Jute and Jute Seed Production and Expansion (2nd Revised)', implemented by the Jute Directorate under the Ministry of Textiles and Jute.

The free jute seed distribution programme was inaugurated by Upazila Executive Officer Washiuzzaman Chowdhury at an event organized by the Upazila Administration and the Jute Directorate. He was accompanied by Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Md. Ekramul Hossain and BRDB Officer Wahid Murad.

A welcome speech was delivered by Assistant Jute Development Officer Aniruddha Kumar Boidhya.
According to relevant sources, a total of 1,000 selected jute farmers from the Harihali, Kapilmuni, Gadaipur, Raruli, and Chandkhali unions of the upazila will be provided with 1 kg of high-quality jute seeds each in phases. During the inaugural event, jute seeds were distributed among beneficiary farmers from Kapilmuni Union.

Speaking at the inauguration, UNO Washiuzzaman Chowdhury said, "Jute is our golden fibre. The government is providing all kinds of support to farmers to increase the cultivation of this eco-friendly crop. This project continues to work with the goal of ensuring that farmers can benefit through the use of advanced technology and proper seeds."
