Bangladesh U-20 football team, unbeaten champions of SAFF U-20 Championship, returned home on Saturday to a historic reception, riding through city streets in an open-top bus for the first time.

The team clinched their second consecutive title by defeating India in a penalty shootout in the final.

The players arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 8:00 PM via US-Bangla Airlines.

An open-top bus was ready to carry them through the city on their way to special reception at Hatirjheel Amphitheater.

While open-top bus celebrations are a common tradition for women’s football teams in Bangladesh, this marked the first time the men’s team received such an honor.

The bus parade traveled through key city streets before arriving at Hatirjheel, where a formal ceremony awaited the champions.

Youth and Sports State Minister Aminul Haque personally welcomed the team at the airport, presenting flowers and congratulating the players.

Also present were Bangladesh Football Federation Development Committee Vice-Chairman Naser Shahriar Zahedi and other officials from the sports ministry.
