Govt orders strict action against overpriced edible oil sales

The government has ordered strict action following allegations of edible oil being sold above the government-set price across the country.

The directive was issued by the Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday.
The directive said that a recent media report has shown that edible oil is being sold in the market at prices higher than the fixed price.

This is harming consumers and creating instability in the market. In this situation, the government has emphasized on strengthening surveillance at the field level and taking necessary measures through mobile courts to ensure the fixed price. At the same time, strict legal action has been ordered against those involved in selling oil at excessive prices.

The directive has asked the Director General of the National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection and all the District Administrators of the country to take necessary steps in this regard.
