MP Babar inaugurates paddy harvesting in haor

NETRAKONA, Apr 13: Lutfozzaman Babar, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Netrokona-4 constituency (Madan-Mohanpur-Khaliajuri) and former deputy minister of Home Affairs, inaugurated the paddy harvesting in the haor area of Khaliajuri Upazila. 

On Saturday afternoon, he launched the harvest using a harvester machine at the Bilbilia haor in Mendipur Union, Khaliajuri Upazila, alongside party leaders and activists. Later, he participated in a views-exchange meeting held at the Khaliajuri Upazila Parishad auditorium.

Earlier that day, after inspecting various embankments, including the Kirtankhola embankment in Sadar Union of Khaliajuri Upazila, he attended the meeting with local residents and party leaders and activists at the Upazila Parishad auditorium in the evening. 

The meeting was presided over by Abdul Rouf Swadhin, President of Khaliajuri Upazila BNP, and moderated by Md. Mahbubur Rahman Talukdar Kestu, General Secretary of the Upazila BNP. Among those present were Nadir Hossain Shamim, Nirbahi Officer of Khaliajuri Upazila; Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Executive Engineer of the Netrakona Water Development Board; former chairman of Khaliajuri Upazila Parishad and Freedom Fighter Abdul Mannan Talukdar; along with local fishermen, farmers, journalists, party leaders and activists, and people from various professions.

Lutfozzaman Babar said, "This year, farmers will receive fair prices for the rice they produce. Additionally, canals will be deepened through excavation to restore the navigability of canals, wetlands, and rivers. By preventing corruption, a drug-free and terrorism-free Bangladesh based on justice will be built, Insha'Allah."
