Teen-age girl drowns at Sreepur

SREEPUR, GAZIPUR, Apr 17: While bathing, a teenage girl drowned in the Banar River in the Khojekhani area of Sreepur Upazila of the district on Friday afternoon and another went missing. 

The deceased Suborna Akhter, 14, was the daughter of Shyamal Morol of Khojekhani Village. The missing Meem Akhter is the daughter of Milon Mia of the same area. 

Sreepur Fire Service Inspector Nurul Karim confirmed the matter. He said that Meem and Suborna went into the river to bathe with some locals in the afternoon. At one point, they fell into the water. 

Being informed by the locals, the Fire Service conducted a rescue operation and recovered the body of Suborna Akhter. The operation to rescue the missing is ongoing.
