Shama off to Dakar to attend Peace and Security Forum

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam left Dhaka on Saturday for Senegal to attend the Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security, scheduled to be held from April 19 to 22.

The forum will focus on global stability, security cooperation and emerging geopolitical challenges.

The Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa is a high-level platform that brings together African leaders, global policymakers, defence experts and international partners to discuss pressing security issues. Since its launch in 2014, the forum has addressed challenges including terrorism, violent extremism, maritime security, climate-related risks and transnational crime.

Held annually in Dakar, the event aims to promote collective responses to security threats in Africa while strengthening international cooperation and dialogue among nations and institutions.

During her visit, Shama Obaed is expected to participate in discussions and hold meetings on the sidelines of the forum, highlighting Bangladesh's commitment to global peace, multilateralism and international security cooperation.
