Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju has said a significant portion of the country’s population is associated with homeopathic treatment, stressing the need to integrate it with modern healthcare systems.
He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion and scientific seminar held at the BMA Bhaban in Khulna city on Saturday.
The programme was organised by Hahnemann Sangha, marking the 271st birth anniversary of Dr Samuel Hahnemann and the organisation’s 12th founding anniversary.
The KCC administrator said incorporating homeopathy alongside conventional treatment at city health centres could benefit more people, adding that the demand would be examined.
Describing Dr Samuel Hahnemann as one of the pioneers of medical science, he said the founder of homeopathy is respected worldwide for his humanitarian contributions.
He also said he would raise the issue of integrating homeopathy into the government healthcare system with the Prime Minister and assured that the city corporation would work to ensure a conducive environment for professionals involved in the sector in Khulna.
The event was chaired by Hahnemann Sangha president Dr Tarak Chandra Roy. Principal of Khulna Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital Dr NM Shamimul Islam spoke at the inauguration, while lecturer of Savar Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital Dr Md Ashraful Haque presented the keynote paper.
Among others, several physicians and professionals from the homeopathic sector were present at the programme.
