A total of seven people, including two matrons and five female prison guards, have been suspended after a female prisoner named Rimpa, 21, escaped from Kashimpur Central Women's Prison in Gazipur by climbing over a wall.
The dismissed officers and employees are: Matron Laila Anjuman Sumi, Matron Marina, Matron Rehena and female prison guards Shayla, Sharmin, Jamie and Asma.
Assistant Inspector General of Prisons (AIG) Md. Jannatul Farhad confirmed the matter on Saturday (July 18) morning. He said that 7 of them were dismissed yesterday based on the report after finding evidence of negligence in their duties.
Earlier, on Thursday evening, about 40 female prisoners were being made to carry bricks inside the prison. Taking advantage of the lack of supervision of the metro on duty at that time, prisoner Rimpa escaped by climbing the cornice of the wall next to the office building of the prison and climbing over the boundary wall. The fugitive Rimpa is the daughter of Md. Hasan of Raipur area of Gangni upazila of Meherpur. She was imprisoned in Kashimpur Central Women's Prison after being sentenced to three months in a mobile court case in Dhanmondi police station area of Dhaka.
Immediately after the incident, the prison authorities searched the entire prison but could not find any trace of him. Later, after reviewing the CCTV footage, it was confirmed that he had escaped from the prison. Later, the prison authorities filed a case at Konabari Model Police Station yesterday (Friday) night.
