Dinajpur man kills son over argument

A man allegedly struck and killed his teenage son with an iron bar (shabol). Police has already arrested the accused father, Shariful Islam.

The incident took place at Harirampur union of Parbatipur upazila in Dinajpur.

Eyewitnesses confirm, Shariful Islam and his son, Nuruzzaman (15) were repairing a wooden door of their mud house inDakshin Harirampur Mollapara village. A heated argument broke out between the two at 12:00PM. At one point, Shariful lost his temper and struck Nuruzzaman on the head.

Local dwellers rescued the critically injured boy and rushed him to the nearby Badarganj upazila Health Complex. The attending doctor declared him dead upon arrival.

On information, Parbatipur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Wadud and Investigating Officer Shahidul Islam visited the crime scene. Police then detained Shariful Islam and took him into custody.

Locals reported that the accused father started behaving abnormally right after the killing.

Confirming the arrest, OC Abdul Wadud stated that police teams are working to uncover the exact motive behind the murder. Legal action will follow a thorough investigation, he added.
