The Election Commission (EC) has officially validated the nomination of Nusrat Tabassum Jyoti for the reserved women's seats in the 13th National Parliament.

The decision followed a directive from the High Court, as confirmed in a notice issued by the Returning Officer’s office on Sunday.

Returning Officer Md Moin Uddin Khan, also an official of the Election Management-2 Division, signed the final list which now includes Jyoti’s name.

The EC noted that the candidate had moved the High Court Division after her initial nomination faced complications.

On April 27, the court ruled in her favor, ordering the commission to accept her papers and complete a re-scrutiny process within 72 hours.

In compliance with the judicial order, the EC conducted the re-scrutiny on May 2. Upon review, her candidacy was deemed valid under Section 10, Sub-section (8) of the National Parliament Election Act 2004.

With this resolution, the legal hurdles surrounding her participation in the upcoming election for reserved seats have been cleared.
