Ten people were detained along with yaba tablets and drug sales money from Dashmina Upazila of Patuakhali District, Kaliganj Upazila of Gazipur District and Kalai Upazila of Joypurhat District in two days.
DASHMINA, PATUAKHALI: Police have arrested two drug dealers along with Tk 2 lakh of drug sales and 60 pieces of yaba tablets from Nabab Kachari Bridge on the Dashmina-Barishal regional highway in Baharampur Union of Dashmina Upazila of the district early Monday.
The arrested Nirab, 20, and Rubel Mridha, 30, are residents of Bogura Village in Ward No. 3 of the union.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dashmina Police Station (PS) Md Atiqul Islam told The Daily Observer that a police team led by him arrested them while conducting a raid in the area based on a tip-off. During the search, Tk 2 lakh and 60 pieces of yaba tablets were seized from them.
The OC said that a case has been filed against the two under the relevant law and they were sent to the concerned court.
KALIGANJ, GAZIPUR: Police have arrested two drug peddlers along with 6.5 grams of broken Yaba (equivalent to about 65 pieces) and 30 pieces of intact yaba tablets in an anti-drug operation near the Baraitala underpass in Ulukhola area of Nagari Union in Kaliganj Upazila of the district early Monday. Another person is absconding in this incident.
Kaliganj PS OC Md Zakir Hossain confirmed the matter on Monday noon.
According to police sources, a drive was conducted in Ulukhola Baraitala area based on secret information. At that time, Raju Mia, 25, of Bhurulia area of Rupganj Upazila of Narayanganj District and Biplob Kumar Sajib, 19, of Haragachh Upazila of Rangpur District, were arrested. Another drug peddler named Mamun, 38, escaped in this incident, according to the police.
In this connection, Ulukhola Police Outpost Sub-Inspector (SI) Muhammad Jamal Uddin filed a case under the Narcotics Control Act. Police said that legal proceedings are underway against the detainees.
KALAI, JOYPURHAT: Members of the District Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) have arrested six youths while consuming drugs in an abandoned room of Chechuria Dwimukhi High School in Udaypur Union of Kalai Upazila of the district on Sunday evening.
It is known that some local youths had been consuming drugs at the school from evening till late night every day. Later, when the locals informed the District DNC, they arrested the six drug takers. They are - Laltu Mia, 25, son of Khalil Mia of Purgram in Udaypur Union, Touhid Hossain, 27, son of late Mina Hossain of Harunja of the same area, Abdul Aziz, 21, son of Milon Hossain of Zaminpur, Hasan Mia, 22, son of Shamsul Mia of Lawna Village, Shafiqul Islam, 24, son of Montaz Ali of Ganga Daspur and Ziaur Rahman, 37, son of Shamsuddin of Jhamutpur of the upazila.
In this connection, District DNC Sub-Inspector Sirajul Islam said that legal action will be taken against those arrested.
