A Dhaka court on Friday placed two close associates of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's military adviser, Major General (retd.) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, on a fresh three-day remand in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act with Ramna Police Station.

The accused-Md Mahidul Islam (42) and Md Chan Mia (46)-were produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court, where police sought a seven-day remand. After hearing, the court granted a three-day remand.

According to the case statement, activists of a banned organisation held rallies and gatherings in the Ramna area on September 12, 2025. Police alleged that the accused were involved in conspiring against the interim government in coordination with leaders and activists of the banned Chhatra League and Awami League.

Investigators told the court that the accused were also linked to efforts to suppress the anti-discrimination student movement and allegedly provided funds, arms and ammunition to support activities of the banned organisation.

Police said preliminary interrogation revealed information about the accused's alleged links with Tarique Ahmed Siddique, as well as their involvement in the case. They sought further custody to identify fugitives, trace illegal arms and uncover the broader conspiracy.
