Elderly man killed in Patuakhali road accident

An elderly Hafiz-e-Quran was killed in a road accident at Dashmina upazila of Patuakhali district on Saturday. 

The incident occurred around 9:00 AM on the Dashmina-Golachipa regional highway near Arajbegi Bazar area.

The deceased was identified as Md. Delwar Munshi, resident of Purba Auliyapur village at Ranagopaldi union of the upazila

According to witnesses, the accident took place when a shallow engine-driven three-wheeler (nosimon) carrying sacks of paddy lost control and crashed into a roadside tree, leaving the goods owner dead on the spot. 

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Rubel, sustained injuries in the crash.

Dashmina Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md. Atikul Islam confirmed that police visited the site and the victim's home. 

As there were no formal complaints from the family, the body was handed over for burial, the OC added.
