NAOGAON, May 11: Md Sohel Rana, an agricultural entrepreneur from Sapahar Upazila of the district, has received the 'Safe Food Award-2026' in recognition of his special contribution to safe and nutritious food production.
State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, MP, presented him with a crest and certificate of honour as the chief guest at the 8th National Scientific Conference organised by the Bangladesh Society for Safe Food (BSSF) and co-organised by World Fish, Heifer International-Bangladesh, CAB International and Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition in Dhaka on Saturday.
BSSF President Prof Dr Md Khaled Hossain chaired the event and General Secretary Dr Mohammad Sarwar Jahan moderated it, while Director General of the Department of Livestock Md Shahzaman Khan and Bangladesh Food Safety Authority Chairman (additional charge) Md Anwarul Islam Sarkar were present as special guests. In addition, Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council (BPICC) President Mashiur Rahman was present as the guest of honour.
A total of 15 research papers were presented in three scientific sessions at the conference.
