
CHATTOGRAM, MAY 11: Unilever Bangladesh Limited (UBL) has renewed its tripartite partnership with Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) and Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) for a further two years, continuing joint efforts to strengthen the plastic waste management value chain and improve the livelihoods of waste workers in Chattogram.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at a ceremony held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in the city on Monday afternoon.
Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain was present as the chief guest at the ceremony.
Captain Ikhtiar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Chief Cleaning Officer of CCC, Mohammad Arifur Rahman, Founder and CEO of YPSA, Ruhul Quddus Khan, CEO and Managing Director of Unilever Bangladesh Limited, and Shamima Akhter, Director of Corporate Affairs, Partnerships and Communications of Unilever Bangladesh Limited were present as special guests.
The initiative has focused on strengthening the collection and management of low-value plastic waste through an incentive-based model, alongside livelihood development through training on waste management. CCC Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain said the partnership will strengthen urban waste management through joint efforts of city authorities, private sector and civil society.
UBL Managing Director Ruhul Quddus Khan said addressing plastic waste needs systemic change and collaboration, adding that Unilever's partnership with Chattogram City Corporation and YPSA aims to strengthen inclusive waste management and promote a sustainable urban ecosystem.
