Prof Anisur Rahman appointed as BRUR VC

Professor Dr Anisur Rahman of Dhaka University’s Marketing Department has been appointed as the seventh Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR).

The appointment was announced in a notification issued on Thursday by the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education.

The notification states that the President, who is also the university's Chancellor, approved the appointment under Section 10(1) of the Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur Act-2009.

Prof Anisur Rahman will receive a salary and allowances equivalent to his current position and enjoy other facilities attached to the post as per existing rules.

The notification also said he will serve as the chief executive officer of the university and must reside on the campus full-time.

It also added that the President and Chancellor reserve the authority to cancel the appointment at any time if necessary.

Apart from his academic role at Dhaka University, Prof Anisur Rahman is also known as a founding senior member of the Jatiyatabadi Teachers’ Forum.
