
NOAKHALI, May 14: A new committee of Noakhali Union of Journalists (NUJ) for the next one year has been formed through a meeting held at the Noakhali Press Club auditorium on Thursday.
NUJ chief adviser and senior journalist Dr Md Borhan Uddin declared the new committee.
In the committee, Boisakhi TV's Noakhali Representative Md Liaqat Ali Khan has been elected as the president and Dainik Dinkal's Noakhali Correspondent Md Jahangir Alam has been elected as the general secretary.
In addition, Md Abul Kalam Azad Bhuiyan of Daily Amar Desh has been elected as the senior vice-president, Tajul Islam Manik, M B Alam and Ehsanul Alam Khasru as the vice-presidents, Md Mozammel Hossain as the senior co-general secretary, Abdus Shakur Hannan, Md Imam Uddin Azad and Md Idris Mia as the co-general secretaries, and Md Kamrul Kanan and Jewel Rana Liton as the organising secretaries. At the same time, 18 journalists including Akash Md Jasim and Abdur Rahim Babul have been made executive members.
At that time, the leaders of the newly formed committee said that the union will work to protect the rights of journalists, train young journalists and ensure the dignity and safety of grassroots media workers.
