Police have recovered the body of an unidentified young man, with his hands tied, from the Brahmaputra river at Langalbandh area of Bandar upazila in Narayanganj district.
The body was spotted on Friday afternoon in front of the Noli Sadhu Ashram by locals, who later alerted the authorities.
Kamtal Police Outpost Investigation Center in-charge Shahadat Hossain said, "Locals spotted the body floating in the Brahmaputra river and informed us. We recovered it and handed it over to the River Police. River Police then sent the body to Narayanganj General Hospital for an autopsy.’’
Police suspect that the victim was murdered and his body was dumped into the river around five to six days ago by criminals attempting to hide the evidence. At the time of recovery, the deceased was wearing black pants and a maroon t-shirt.
An investigation is currently underway as police work to determine the identity of the victim and uncover the circumstances surrounding his death, the officials added.
