
NOAKHALI, May 16: Newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) Prof Dr Golam Rabbani formally joined the university on Friday.
Upon his arrival, the university's BNCC unit accorded him a guard of honour, while members of the Rover Scout group welcomed him with a ceremonial scarf. He also placed wreaths at the university's Shaheed Minar.
Later, at the vice-chancellor's office, he exchanged views with teachers, students, officers, employees, representatives of different organisations, and journalists.
In his brief speech during the meeting, Prof Rabbani extended greetings and thanks to the teachers, students, officers, employees, and journalists.
"In this regard, I seek cooperation from all of you," he said.
Prof Rabbani also said he would discharge the responsibilities entrusted to him by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman with sincerity and honesty and work to transform NSTU into a quality university in Bangladesh.
Among others present at the event were Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Rezwanul Haque, Treasurer Prof Dr Mohammad Hanif Murad, Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences Prof Dr Muhammad Shafiqul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Education Sciences Prof Dr Md Jahangir Sarkar, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Prof Dr Md Abdul Kaiyum Masud, Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof Dr Md Mohinuzzaman, Acting Registrar Mohammad Tamzid Hossain Chowdhury, directors of different institutes, department chairmen, hall provosts, teachers, students, officers, and employees.
Before joining NSTU, Prof Rabbani had been serving as a professor at the Institute of Social Welfare and Research (ISWR) of University of Dhaka. He has long been involved in higher education, research, and academic activities.
