Minister Anee sees Meghna erosion in Noakhali

NOAKHALI, May 17: Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee said, the people of the coastal region of Greater Noakhali live by facing erosion, flooding and other situations.

He said these things while visiting the Meghna River erosion in Hatiya and Subarnachar upazilas of the district on Sunday afternoon.

He said, "Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is keeping an eye on everything that needs to be done to alleviate the misery of the people. He is giving respect to every demand and giving instructions. We are always working in that direction. Three months have passed since our government. During this time, we have been working in the interest of the people by standing by them."

The minister further said, "The Meghna River is eroding many markets, schools, colleges, and lands. As per the expectations of the people of the area, we have undertaken urgent work to prevent the erosion."

Noakhali-4 MP Mohammad Shahjahan, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Shafiqul Islam and District BNP Convener Mahbub Alamgir Alo along with local leaders were present at that time.
