KHULNA, May 22: The Sundarbans must be protected not only for Bangladesh but for the entire world, as the mangrove forest plays a vital role in shielding coastal communities from climate-induced disasters and in mitigating the impacts of climate change, speakers said at a seminar of the two-day Sundarbans Summit held in Khulna on Friday.

The summit, jointly organised by BRAC University's Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Research, Mission Green Bangladesh, Sajida Foundation and Swapnapuri Kalyan Sangstha, brought together more than 300 young climate activists from seven South and Southeast Asian countries.
