Australia have made one change to their squad ahead of the second and final Test against Bangladesh.

Opener Jake Weatherald has been dropped from the 13-member squad, with left-handed batter Matthew Renshaw brought in as his replacement, according to an ICC report.

If selected for the second Test, which begins in Mackay on August 22, the 30-year-old Renshaw will return to Test cricket after more than three years. His last Test appearance came against India in Delhi in 2023, when he was brought into the side as a concussion replacement for regular opener David Warner.

Renshaw subsequently played ODI and T20I cricket for Australia but did not earn another Test call-up. However, he has returned to the Test squad following a disappointing performance by Australia’s top order in the first Test against Bangladesh.

Australia were bowled out for just 198 in their first innings of the opening Test. Weatherald scored only 23 and zero across the two innings, and his failures have resulted in him being dropped from the squad.
